
Graham Lovett
Graham was born in Dingwall and studied voice and piano at Napier College and the Royal College of Music in London. He has recently retired from his post as Curriculum Leader for Performing Arts at St Thomas of Aquin’s High School in Edinburgh. Graham has held a variety of senior posts within the Scottish Qualifications Authority, and is currently Lead Verifier, supporting all National Qualifications.
He is an experienced music assessor for all levels, and is also an experienced judge and adjudicator at music festivals and music competitions, including the Royal National Mod.
As a choral director Graham was the founding conductor of Lothian Gaelic Choir, and then Cadenza, bringing competition success to both groups, including winning heats of the Sainsbury Choir of the Year Competition, and many Mod competitions.
Graham is also known as a tenor soloist, and as a member of Cappella Nova has recorded six CDs and taken part in many television and radio programmes. As a singer and conductor, he has performed throughout Europe, and also Russia and Cuba.
Graham is currently (and since 2000) the conductor of the Edinburgh Kevock Choir and during his time with the choir has conducted concerts throughout Scotland and abroad in addition to over 150 Edinburgh Military Tattoo performances over seven years, to live audiences of over 1.5 million.
In his spare time, Graham enjoys cooking, gardening and sea fishing when visiting his bothy on the remote island of Soay, just off Elgol in Skye.
